The Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, also known as the HfMDK Frankfurt am Main, is a renowned public university specialising in music, theatre and dance. Founded in 1938, it is the only institution of its kind in the German state of Hesse. With around 900 students, the University offers a close-knit and vibrant community for aspiring artists and performers.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)
For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
