Leipzig University: Application Deadlines for Bachelor programs (2026/27)

University of Leipzig, founded in 1409 as Germany's second-oldest university, is a public research institution with 30,000 students across 14 faculties in Leipzig, Saxony, offering comprehensive programs from humanities and sciences to medicine and law. This historic university holds particular research strengths in biodiversity, biomedicine, and mathematical sciences, while maintaining unique programs in African Studies, Sorbian Studies, and Ancient Near Eastern Studies, consistently ranking among Germany's top 20 universities though not achieving Excellence University status despite applications. Located in Leipzig (600,000 residents), eastern Germany's cultural center with vibrant arts scenes and relatively affordable living costs around €650-850 monthly, the university operates from buildings throughout the city center including the modern Augusteum main building and historic Campus Augustusplatz, benefiting from Leipzig's renaissance as a startup hub and cultural destination. Programs operate primarily in German requiring C1-C2 proficiency for most bachelor's degrees, with competitive admission for medicine (1.0-1.2 NC), psychology, and pharmacy, while growing English-taught master's programs attract international students, though the eastern German location may present integration challenges for some despite Leipzig's increasing international community.
