Study Law in Germany (2026/27)

Germany offers international students a distinguished environment for legal studies where European and international law meet the country's rich civil law tradition. Universities provide unique insights into this tradition through specialised Master's programmes in areas such as EU law, international business law, human rights and intellectual property—many taught entirely in English. Students benefit from Germany's influential role in shaping European legal frameworks and its impact on international law, while gaining practical skills through law clinics, moot courts, exchange programmes and participation in international conferences.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
