Founded in 1775 as the Clausthal Mining School, Clausthal University of Technology (TU Clausthal) is a specialized public technical university located in the Upper Harz Mountains of Lower Saxony with approx. 3,000 students. This small institution focuses on engineering and natural sciences, and has a longstanding tradition of excellence in mining, petroleum engineering, materials science, and metallurgy.
