The Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes (HTW Saar), also known as Saarbrücken University of Applied Sciences, is a public university of applied sciences founded in 1946 and today counts over 6,000 students, making it one of the largest of its kind in Germany. Located in Saarbrücken, the university offers modern facilities in an urban setting and is known for its broad range of programmes in business, architecture, civil and mechanical engineering, social sciences and especially Franco-German studies. HTW Saar has built a strong reputation for combining practice-oriented training with a solid theoretical foundation, with specialist strengths in automotive engineering, biomedical engineering and renewable energy. Research and knowledge transfer play a central role at the university, which attracts around €9.4 million annually in third-party funding and ranks among Germany’s top universities for applied research.
