The Katholische Hochschule fĂŒr Sozialwesen Berlin (KHSB), founded in 1991, is a state-recognised private university of applied sciences with around 1,400 students and 90 teaching staff, specialising in social work, social education and health care. Located in Berlin, the university offers accredited Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes such as Social Work, Clinical Social Work, Social Pedagogy and Preventive Social Work, combining theoretical knowledge with strong practical orientation through supervised placements and project-based learning, particularly in the 5th and 6th semesters where students develop their own projects in areas like community work, health promotion, gender and diversity or interculturalism. Accredited by the German Council of Science and Humanities and the Accreditation Council, KHSB is recognised for its high-quality education, supportive learning environment and close ties to practice, preparing graduates for careers in the social sector, including roles in youth welfare, health care, counselling, rehabilitation and non-profit organisations.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
