Study Ethics and Philosophy in Germany (2026/27)

Overview Deadlines

Germany offers an unparalleled setting for studying Ethics & Philosophy, immersing students in a country that has profoundly shaped Western philosophical thought. From Kant's moral imperatives and Hegel's dialectics to Nietzsche's critiques, Heidegger's phenomenology, and the Frankfurt School's critical theory, Germany's philosophical tradition provides an exceptionally rich foundation for grappling with fundamental questions about knowledge, existence, and how we ought to live. German universities approach philosophy with both historical depth and contemporary urgency, offering rigorous training in logic, metaphysics, epistemology, and ethical theory while engaging pressing modern challenges—artificial intelligence ethics, bioethics, climate justice, and digital rights.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
