International Vietnamese Studies Programs in Germany without Admission Restriction / NC-Free (2026/27)

Vietnamese Studies programs in Germany offer international students unique perspectives on Southeast Asia's rising star, studying in a nation hosting Western Europe's largest Vietnamese diaspora (180,000+) and maintaining special connections since East German solidarity with North Vietnam—creating specialists who understand Vietnam beyond pho and war narratives to decode a dynamic nation balancing Communist governance with capitalist energy, traditional values with rapid modernization. These interdisciplinary English-taught degrees leverage Germany's unexpected Vietnamese connections: students master tonal Vietnamese language through immersion in Berlin's vibrant "Little Saigon," analyze how 60,000 contract workers in the GDR created lasting communities, investigate German development cooperation from Mekong Delta to tech startups, examine Vietnam's economic miracle attracting German manufacturers, and understand why studying Vietnam from Germany provides perspectives different from American Vietnam War-focused programs—discovering that Vietnamese studies opens doors to ASEAN's most dynamic economy. Germany's substantial Vietnamese networks provide practical advantages through established communities and growing economic ties: Vietnamese cultural centers preserving heritage while fostering integration, business associations facilitating trade worth €15 billion annually, university partnerships with institutions in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, research collaborations on sustainable development, and restaurants, markets, and festivals making Vietnamese culture tangibly accessible.
