The University of Mannheim, also known as UMA, is a public research university located in the vibrant city of Mannheim, Germany, and a leading institution in economics and social sciences. Founded in 1967, the university has its roots in the Palatine Academy of Sciences, founded in 1763, and the Mannheim Business School, founded in 1907. With over 10,000, the University of Mannheim offers a dynamic learning environment.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)
For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
