Baltic Studies Study Programs in Germany: Application Deadlines (2026/27)

Baltic Studies is an interdisciplinary field that examines the languages, cultures, histories, and societies of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, offering students a comprehensive understanding of the region’s unique heritage and evolving role in Europe. Drawing on linguistics, history, folklore, literature, and political science, these programs explore the formation of national identities, shared historical experiences such as Soviet occupation and independence movements, and the cultural traditions that shape Baltic societies. Students also analyze contemporary political, social, and economic transformations, as well as the region’s strategic importance within the European Union, NATO, and global affairs.
