• Medieval Literature: Spanning from epic tales like The Song of Roland to Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, medieval literature reflects themes of religion, chivalry, and courtly love.

• Renaissance: This period witnessed a flourishing of literature driven by humanism, with works like Cervantes’ Don Quixote and Shakespeare’s plays defining European cultural heritage.

• Enlightenment: European literature during this time, including Voltaire’s satires and Goethe’s Faust, explored reason, individuality, and societal structures.

• Romanticism: A movement emphasizing emotion, nature, and individuality, represented by authors like Victor Hugo (Les Misérables), Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (The Sorrows of Young Werther), and Lord Byron.
