International Jewish Studies Master Programs in Germany (2026/2027)

Germany offers international students a profound and unique opportunity to study Jewish Studies in a nation that has transformed its historical responsibility into exceptional academic commitment, hosting world-leading research centers, extensive archives, and vibrant contemporary Jewish communities. Pursuing Jewish Studies in Germany means accessing renowned programs at institutions like the Hochschule für Jüdische Studien Heidelberg—Europe's only dedicated Jewish Studies university—and centers at Freie Universität Berlin and University of Potsdam, where comprehensive collections including recovered pre-war archives and the Leo Baeck Institute provide unparalleled primary sources for research. German universities deliver interdisciplinary Jewish Studies programs that integrate history, theology, philosophy, literature, and contemporary culture, examining Jewish civilization from antiquity through modern times while addressing topics from Holocaust studies and memory culture to contemporary Jewish life in Europe and Israel-Germany relations.
