Tuition-free Sinology Programs in Germany without Admission Restriction — Numerus Clausus/NC (2026/27)

Germany’s Sinology programs offer international students a unique and valuable perspective by combining centuries of rigorous academic tradition with contemporary expertise at the crossroads of European-Chinese relations. At institutions like Heidelberg University’s Institute of Chinese Studies—one of Europe’s oldest—and through resources such as Berlin State Library’s East Asian collections, students explore classical Chinese literature, history, and philosophy alongside modern China studies covering politics, economics, and society. Programs emphasize language proficiency through intensive training and study abroad opportunities at partner universities in China, while Germany’s position as China’s largest European trading partner (€250 billion bilateral trade) provides real-world relevance.
