Furtwangen University

Furtwangen University (HFU), founded in 1850 as a watchmaking school, is a public university of applied sciences. It has 4,000 students across three campuses in the Black Forest region of Baden-Württemberg—in the towns of Furtwangen (population 10,000), Villingen-Schwenningen (population 85,000), and Tuttlingen (population 35,000). The university offers programs in engineering, computer science, business information systems, digital media, and health sciences. It has specialized degrees in areas such as microsystems engineering and medical engineering, reflecting the region's heritage of precision manufacturing.
