Trier University (2026/27)

Overview Deadlines

The University of Trier, officially known as the University of Trier, is a public university located in the historic city of Trier, Germany. It was founded in 1473 and has a rich history dating back to the late Middle Ages. However, the university was closed in 1798 during the French occupation and re-established in 1970, making it one of the more recent universities in Germany. Despite its relatively recent re-establishment, the University of Trier has grown rapidly and is expected to have more than 12,000 students.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
