Study Technical Design in Germany (2026/27)

Technical Design in Germany

Germany's Technical Design programs position international students at the intersection of engineering precision and aesthetic innovation, training designers to ensure products function flawlessly, feel intuitive, and look irresistible—essential skills where design philosophy turned Braun razors into icons and BMW grilles instantly recognizable. Students calculate stress tolerances while sculpting ergonomic forms, program parametric design software generating organic geometries, understand injection molding constraints while pushing aesthetic boundaries, and develop interfaces making German engineering excellence accessible through brilliant design leveraging Germany's industrial design heritage through partnerships with detail-oriented companies. Internships involve redesigning Bosch power tools for aging workers, creating life-critical medical devices at B.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
