Tuition-free Climate Research Programs in Germany without Admission Restriction — Numerus Clausus/NC (2026/27)

Climate Research programs in Germany offer international students the chance to join one of the world’s most important scientific missions in a country leading both renewable energy innovation and global climate policy. Home to institutions like the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and a major contributor to IPCC assessments, Germany provides exceptional research infrastructure—from supercomputers modeling Earth system tipping points to polar research vessels and ice core laboratories holding 800,000 years of climate history. These English-taught, interdisciplinary programs unite oceanography, atmospheric physics, social science, and economics, training students to analyze climate risks and design solutions ranging from early warning systems for extreme weather to carbon pricing and renewable integration strategies.
