Tuition-free Climate Studies Programs in Germany without Admission Restriction — Numerus Clausus/NC (2026/27)

Germany stands as a global leader for international students pursuing Climate Studies, offering world-class programs at the forefront of climate science and policy innovation through institutions such as the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg, the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS), and research-focused universities in Bremen, Kiel, and Cologne. These English-taught programs combine atmospheric physics, oceanography, paleoclimatology, and climate modeling with hands-on training in remote sensing, numerical simulation, impact assessment, and big-data analysis. Students gain access to cutting-edge infrastructure including supercomputing clusters, satellite data processing centers, ice core laboratories, and field stations stretching from the Arctic to the Alps, while working on urgent questions such as tipping points, carbon cycle dynamics, extreme weather attribution, and regional climate projections.
