The University of Potsdam is a public research university established in 1991 in Potsdam, Brandenburg, Germany. With over 20,000 students enrolled as of 2022, it is Brandenburg's largest university. The institution operates across four campuses featuring both historic and contemporary architecture, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as buildings within Sanssouci Park and the former stables of Frederick the Great. Located approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Berlin, the university provides access to both metropolitan resources and the natural landscape of Brandenburg's lakes and forests.

The university comprises seven faculties offering programs in humanities, social sciences, law, economics, natural sciences, and human sciences.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
